Two Donaldson® Torit® Downflo® Oval (DFO) dust collectors have a small footprint and yet are sized for the high airflow needed for eight concrete color holding tanks.
When Butterfield Color, a maker of decorative concrete color additives, stains, and sealers needed to expand, they remodeled an older manufacturing facility. Dust collection with increased airflow and filtration capacity to capture the clouds of dust rising from eight color holding tanks was a necessary improvement.
Butterfield needed a dust collection system that could handle particle sizes ranging from 10 to 500 microns. They chose two Donaldson® Torit® Downflo® Oval (DFO) self-cleaning cartridge dust collectors each containing eight Ultra-Web® cartridge filters.
The DFO design allows 25% more airflow than traditional dust collectors, improved airflow path, and a 30% increase in pulse cleaning pressure. For Butterfield, this meant that only two relatively small units were needed for the eight tanks. Inside the collectors, the Ultra-Web filter media is engineered to capture both large and very small dust particles. Since Donaldson Torit first introduced Ultra-Web fine fiber cartridge filters to industry more than 25 years ago, it has been continually advanced and perfected to deliver lower emissions, longer filter life, and greater cost savings.
The Donaldson Torit solution included:
Butterfield Color reports being “very happy” with the performance of the DFO collection systems, the Ultra-Web cartridge filters, and the installation.
