DIXON, ILLINOIS, USA (August 24, 2021) – Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE:DCI), a leading worldwide manufacturer of innovative filtration products and solutions, installed a solar array at their Dixon, Illinois, facility as part of the company’s global sustainability initiatives and commitment to renewable energy; the installation will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in northern Illinois by 2,435 metric tons a year.
Construction of the solar array began in October 2020 and includes photovoltaic panels on the ground and a portion of the facility’s roof. The renewable energy generated by the array will equate to approximately 40% of the Dixon facility’s annual electricity needs.
The installation increases the amount of renewable energy on the Dixon-area energy grid by supplying the community’s utility with solar energy; any incremental energy produced by the installation reverts to the community energy grid.
Scott Jackson, Donaldson Dixon Plant Manager
To commemorate the occasion, an all-employee outdoor event, Here Comes the Sun, took place Saturday, August 28, where Donaldson employees and their families enjoyed food, outdoor games, and music, along with a ceremonial flipping of the solar array switch.
